Q. What resources do I need on my computer in order to use HOSTGURU.biz web hosting services?

A. You do not need anything more than a personal computer with Internet access. IF you do not have an FTP program installed, no need to worry there are plenty of free ones out there or you can use the built-in FTP program available in HOSTGURU.biz web-base administration tool MonsterControls.

Q. Does HOSTGURU.biz offer 24 hour technical support?

A. Yes! We offer 24 x 7 x 365 always-on support via our online support system Ticket, telephone support and real-time chat. We are always here to help you no matter what time day or night you need us.

Q. Does HOSTGURU.biz support Microsoft FrontPage and FrontPage server extensions?

A. Yes, HOSTGURU.biz fully supports FP 2000 and FP 2002 on both our Linux and Windows platforms.

Q. What are the various types of databases HOSTGURU.biz offers with its packages?

A. HOSTGURU.biz Linux plans come pre-configured with mySQL. Should you choose one of our Windows packages, you will receive access to a SQL server or a Microsoft Access server.

Q. Will I have unlimited access to my site for updates?

A. Yes. You have unlimited access via FTP 24 hours a day 365 days a year. As such, you can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload files to your website any time you wish.

Q. Can I host domains in the sub-directory of my account?

A. Yes, by utilizing our Fake IP addon. It is a CGI-based tool that provides the ability to point additional domains to subdirectories of your main domain. There is a one-time $35.00 set-up fee and $10 per month for each domain you add as a Fake IP.

Q. Do you handle Foreign Domain Name Registrations?

A. We currently house domains from over 65+ countries, and can house any valid domain name extension. Currently we offer domain name registration services for .com, .net and .org, etc. extensions.

Q. How is billing handled?

A. Every month we send you an email invoice/statement for the charges that you have accrued for that month. The statement will list all the details of your account and our options to pay. If you have elected to pay with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard or American Express) your account will be automatically billed. If you wish to pay with a check or a wire transfer you will have 7 days to tender payment to HOSTGURU.biz.

Q. What are your Network capabilities?

A. HOSTGURU.biz is unique in that it operates a privately-owned dark fiber network consisting of multiple GigE (1000Mbits each) connections to multiple Internet Service Providers. This gives us the ability to control every aspect of our transit and turn on additional bandwidth within minutes as client demand warrants it. Our dark fiber network is built on dual strands of fiber and is self healing in case of fiber cuts. Additionally, the dual fiber strands are capable of transmitting over four terabits of data per second making HOSTGURU.biz network one of the largest and fastest privately held web hosting network in the world.

Q. What Operating System and Server Software is being used?

A. All our Linux-based systems run a customized version of RedHat with the powerful Apache Web Server and Apache SSL Server for secure transactions. Additionally, we offer Microsoft-based systems using the Windows 2003 Advanced Server operating system.

Q. What type of hardware are you using?

A. For maximum reliability all our servers are custom-built using the best components currently available in the industry. Since there are constant improvements in the hardware industry, we ensure that we upgrade all our systems every months, thereby providing you and your customers access to the latest machines equipped with fast processors and lots of memory and storage space.

Q. Does HOSTGURU.biz offer any dial-up access to the Internet?

A. No, you will need to contact your local Internet Service Provider (ISP) for local dial-up access to the Internet. We do offer dedicated Internet connectivity such as fractional T-1 service. Consult our prices for more information.

Q. What statistical package does HOSTGURU.biz offer?

A. HOSTGURU.biz Windows 2003 packages comes with Deep Metrix's Live Stats. Our Linux packages come free with Boutell's Wusage statistics.

Q. What about accepting credit cards, can I do it securely?

A. All of HOSTGURU.biz web hosting packages come with complimentary use of our shared SSL certificates. Each certificate uses 1024 bit security to ensure that every credit card submitted on your website is encrypted prior to the information being sent to you.

Q. Do you offer any pre-configured CGI-scripts?

A. Yes, HOSTGURU.biz offers free, pre-installed CGI-scripts on all of its Linux-based packages. These include FormMail, cgiemail, Guestbooks, WWWboard (bbs), and guest counters. Our Windows 2003 packages come with 6 pre-installed handy cgi-scripts.

Q. Does HOSTGURU.biz allow for custom cronjobs to be setup?

A. HOSTGURU.biz does allow custom crons. However, these must be approved on a case-by-case basis by our support team. There will be an additional monthly cost depending on the complexity and the frequency of the program the cron is executing.

Q. Do you maintain backups of my data?

A. Yes. We backup your web directory daily on to our tape backup machines.

Q. Can I access my domain without the "www" in front?

A. Yes. You will be able to access your domain address with or without the "www" in front of the domain name. Example: [http://www.your-name.com] or [http://your-name.com] is acceptable, whichever you prefer.

Q. How long does it take to set-up a new account?

A. New Linux accounts are set-up within 30 seconds from the time we receive your order. Once your account is set-up, you will be emailed your Account Login information (User ID, Password & FTP hostname) along with some useful URLs to help you get started. You can immediately start uploading files to your new website. Domain account users will be given a temporary URL to access their site via the web prior to the completion of either domain registration or domain modification. Windows accounts generally take between 1-2 hours to configure and deploy.
